BUCHANAN Peter Ronald C. 1870-1950
Known as The Tout he worked as a sports cartoonist and caricaturist for the News of the World and Tatler in the 1930’s and exhibited 128 drawings at Walker's Gallery, London, in 1931.

Produced two full page collections of racing driver caricatures for The Motor Magazine. These were given away as colour supplements on 3rd August and 26th September 1922, his main subjects were horse racing; owners, breeders and jockeys.

The Tatler was introduced on 3 July 1901, by Clement Shorter, publisher of The Sphere. It was named after the original literary and society journal founded by Richard Steele in 1709. For some time a weekly publication, it had a subtitle varying on "an illustrated journal of society and the drama". It contained news and pictures of high society balls, charity events, race meetings, shooting parties, fashion and gossip, with cartoons by "The Tout" and H. M. Bateman.
