Chevallier Tayler Cricket Prints

Albert Chevallier Tayler born in 1862 at Leytonstone, Essex - died in 1925, Paddington, London. An artist who specialised in portrait and genre painting, but was also involved in the plein air methods of the Newlyn School. He was a member of the British Royal Academy of Painters, and he studied at Heatherley's School of Art, Royal Academy Schools and with avant gard painters in Paris. He was educated at Bloxham School in Oxfordshire.

Tayler was keen cricketer, and in 1905 produced a set of watercolours with chalk featuring well known cricket players. All chromolithograph prints on a dark background. Published by the Fine Art Society, London (1905), printed by Spottiswoode and Co. on olive or grey paper. Sizes approximately 375mm × 250mm
